Ahead of World Photography Day 2024, we’re exploring corporate images, their importance, and why they need to be part of your marketing mix.
World Photography Day is the annual celebration of all things photography; where hobbyists, amateurs, and professionals come together to proclaim their love for capturing the world around them. It is an opportunity to look back at the history, culture, and future of photography, and is a chance to take in the wonderful art that comes with capturing humanity’s time on Earth.
World Photography Day falls on August 19th every year – in 2024 this will be a Monday. World Photography Week also begins on August 12th and runs until August 26th. This doesn’t mean photography can only be celebrated during that time though, photography is something that can be appreciated every single day.
Photography may not be as old as painting, but since its invention, it has captured the attention of millions, if not billions of humans. In the nearly 200 years since the first photograph in 1826, humanity has taken an estimated 12.4 trillion photos and is expected to grow to 28.6 trillion by 2030.
So, even if you don’t call it ‘photography’, every time you take a photo of your pet, your food, the band you’re watching, or the flower you see on your walk, you are exercising your creative and artistic self and you are contributing to photos we each take every day.
Well, that’s easy.
It really is as simple as that. Maybe there’s some new graffiti on your walk to work, maybe your dog was being extra goofy on their morning walk, or maybe the light hitting the steam from your coffee looked extra cool today. Get your phone out, open the camera up, and see what you can do!
It doesn’t need to be ‘the best photo ever taken’, but if it is something you like or enjoy, take a moment to think: “How can I make this photo better?” Can you move the subject into some better light? Can you move yourself to find a better perspective? Try bringing your eyes level with the subject before raising your camera to the same angle, or maybe a top-down shot would look best?
When you’re done, enjoy it! You can keep it to yourself or share it, but if you do share it, we, and everyone else, would love to see it.
Post your photos on social media with the #WorldPhotographyDay2024 tag to add them to the online gallery of photographers from all over the world.
Regardless of what industry you are in, photography is an essential part of presenting yourself and your work to the world. Even for us here at Freebook Global Technologies, photographing SEO or Cyber Security isn’t the easiest thing to do, but having professional photographs of our offices and our colleagues helps the world get to know us better, and builds an element of trust.
Hiring someone you have only seen behind a URL, or an email address, is completely different to hiring someone you have physically seen, albeit in jpeg form. If you are in an industry with physical products/results then having professional photographs of these is crucial to a lot of aspects of your business, but mainly to how you market your product. Word of mouth is one thing, but ‘people eat with their eyes first’, so having something to display has huge benefits when it comes to encouraging consumers to purchase or convert.
As we said above, it can be quite difficult to photograph a digital service such as SEO, PPC, Cyber Security, or Website Development. However, we understand that there are people behind all of these services, behind all of the phone calls and emails, and behind every line of code or blog post write-up. Because of this, we maintain a strong ‘Meet The Team’ section on our website so that everyone, from potential clients to potential employees, can see the team and get to know them.
We’re also incredibly proud of our in-house production team, who create bespoke images for us that completely blow out of the water what we would hope to get from a stock photo provider. Stock images often come with some very over-dramatic expressions, and while this may have worked a decade ago, modern imagery is a lot more down-to-earth and authentic. Relatable imagery is proven to resonate more with customers, leading to more conversions.
As such, we use our production team's skills at every opportunity to fill our website with unique imagery and video, just for us. This way we can stand out from the rest, ensuring that we have images that aren’t used anywhere else on the internet. We can also then use our website as a real-world example of what we can do for other businesses.
Now imagine if you were a bakery, a fashion brand, a plumber, a shoe designer, a car manufacturer, or even a software developer. How can you market your goods or services and expect people to purchase them if they can’t see them? How will you create marketing materials for advertisements?
Luckily our in-house production team is on hand to help. We can offer bespoke corporate photography ranging from employee headshots to workplace images to product catalogues. To take your branding and visual marketing to the next level, our production team also specialises in video and drone footage.
