One of the most important parts of an SEO strategy is keeping close tabs on your backlink profile, monitoring and addressing any activity accordingly as it is spotted. Links to your site are a vital aspect in determining your rankings in search engine results pages. It is therefore crucial to keep a high quality backlink profile, watching for any suspicious or spammy inbound links that may appear.
Here at Freebook Global Technologies, we are able to use our software to monitor all of our clients’ sites and backlink profiles closely. By keeping an eye on this we are able to quickly respond to anything affecting the quality of a backlink profile.
Our software will track all of the inbound links that are pointing towards a website, showing us details such as trust flow, citation flow and details of referring domains from which the links are coming from.
This information is updated daily, allowing us to keep up to speed with the quality of links to our clients’ sites. We can see if there is a relationship between any change in search rankings and an increase or decrease in good or bad links.
We are able to gather a detailed insight into the number of backlinks pointing to a site and whether these are growing or declining each day. Any sudden surge of inbound links will be picked up. When we see that this has occurred we have to ask ourselves where these are coming from. For example, an article may have been shared across the social media platforms, causing people to share and link back to the website from a blog. In this instance we may be able to put it down to this.
However, if nothing of this sort had been done to lead to content going viral then this spike in links must be approached with suspicion and delved into deeper. It is possible that they may be coming from a website that hasn’t got anything to do with our clients.
Unfortunately, with competition rife in the search engine results, some companies will take to negative SEO tactics, building hundreds or thousands of very low quality links to a competitors’ site to try and get them penalised. Although rare, this is where our software’s ability to pick up these links quickly really comes in handy.
We can then act on this quickly, using the software to obtain exact details of the URLs where links are found. We will check out the referring websites, scoping out whether links are legitimate or not and work on getting bad inbound links removed to prevent damage to our SEO campaign.
